On August 12, 2024, a video of the last minutes of Mauricio Leal's life was revealed.In the images featured by Colombian media Focus Noticias, the star stylist appeared to be lying in a frail-looking bed next to the body of his mother, who was believed to be unconscious or possibly even lifeless.
Mauricio gave a few words in what was supposed to be a confession to the crime.

"Hello everyone. I'm sorry. I can't take it anymore. No one knows about anyone," he says while covered by a blanket. Soon you can hear a voice whispering, "The sheets." Leal immediately takes off his shirt and you can see that it has a large blood stain on his stomach: "I just plunged a knife into myself, and so did my mother," he says.
Finally, she looked up and apparently asked someone, "Now. What should I do? What do I do?", at which point the video cuts off.
Elmer Montaño, the victims' lawyer, said in an interview with the program 'Arriba Bogotá' on August 12, that this video does not change the sentence against Jhonier Leal, but they will file legal action against the prosecution for concealing evidence.
