On November 22, 2021, renowned Colombian stylist Mauricio Leal and his mother Marleny Hernández were found dead in their home in La Calera, Cundinamarca.Initially, Leal was suspected to have killed his mother and then committed suicide, as a note was found that seemed to confirm this theory.

However, during the prosecutor's investigation, facts were discovered that called the hypothesis into question as the injuries and crime scene did not match the theory.
Finally, in January 2022, the prosecutor's office arrested Jhonier Leal, the brother of a stylist known for working with Colombian entertainment figures, and charged him with double murder.

Jhonier initially confessed to the crime, but later recanted, claiming that he had been pressured into pleading guilty. In June 2024, Jhonier was sentenced to 55 years in prison for the murders of his brother and mother.
